"Between the mountain and the river, earth and water, this place welcomed us. Day after day we make it ours, open to friends and guests. A morsel of the Sabina, Valle Capore is home to Giulia and Marco"
The farm holiday “Valle Capore”, is located in Collelungo, Comune di Casaprota, near Roma. A mosaic of olive trees, pastures, woods, and glades overlooked by centenary oaks enriches the 32 hectares of the property. Bound by the river Farfa and the mountains of Sabina, surrounded by intact and friendly villages, the landscape of our farm changes colors and traits with the seasons, embodying the dynamical characteristics, ever changing and yet somehow untouched by time, of the region’s nature.
Here we preserve and renew the agricultural activities of the Reatino combining traditional methods with modern organic farming techniques to assure a sustainable development of the estate. About a thousand olive trees of different local varieties cover the gentle slopes that stretch to the banks of the Farfa. Through our care, they came back to life after many years of neglect. The true protagonists of the farm’s activities, however, are the horses. Elegant, powerful and quiet figures to be found everywhere: Resting in the shade of the olive trees, grazing in the fields, working on the many paths of the property. They fill the land with life. To us, they are the key to the sustainable tourism we propose and endorse. Our intent is to make known the beauty of the region where we live, the Sabina, while preserving it intact for future generations. Horse tracks represent a traditional ecological corridor in this area, they connect many of its little known natural and cultural wonders. We offer our guests the possibility to explore the Sabina on horseback, to enjoy the variety of its agricultural and mountainous landscape. Riding allows to travel in a unique way, to rediscover pleasures that we neglect too often these days: The silence along the way, broken only by the muffled sound of the hoofs on the grass; A different visual perspective, and a different inclination of the mind as we’re lulled by a canter; The challenge of relying on our abilities on the saddle to reach our destination. These are all elements of the delight of the “viaggiar lento” (“travel slow”) that we are sure you will enjoy with us.
Our horses have different characteristics and different roles so that we can satisfy different needs. Children can familiarize themselves with these beautiful animals by playing with our pony, while maremmani and half-breeds are reliable and trustworthy companions in long or short excursions. Quarter horses and appaloosa, strong and indefatigable, are ideal for rougher terrains. Recently, two new members enriched our family: Albatros and MusHtari’ with their aristocratic, long necks and thin, vibrant bodies, came to us from Uzbekistan. In time, they will be the first two animals in our breeding farm of Akahlteke’.
Marco is our guide on horseback. He accompanies our guests in excursions of various length and difficulty: Simple and nice tours of about one hour or longer treks that can last from an afternoon to several days.
Marco and Giulia will be glad to welcome you at the Capore. Our hospitality is rooted in the traditions of this rural area: sincerity and respect. We look forward to sharing with you our love of Sabina and of the activities that are inseparable from it.
